Job Description
The Senior Research Analyst – Asset Allocation - is a VP level role intended to expand and enhance MPI’s asset allocation domain-area expertise. This position will be a key member within MPI’s Quantitative Research Group and report directly to the SVP overseeing this unit. Key responsibilities will cover a number of areas including, but not limited to, quantitative research, client services, and product management. This role will also represent a vital building block from which MPI can engage clients in an investment consulting capacity. To this end, the job is high-visibility and a strategically significant one for the Firm.
This role requires advanced knowledge of asset allocation research, risk management and portfolio construction techniques acquired through both formal professional education and on-the-job work experience respectively. In addition, this candidate will be skilled at communicating complex asset allocation, finance and economic concepts to a wide range of investment practitioners. This candidate will also be responsible for idea/concept development and product management of new and existing asset allocation products. This is a highly focused job and relies on effective cross-functional coordination among sales-marketing, client services, and software engineering.

Essential Responsibilities
- Drive and assist in the creation of the Research Group’s asset allocation research agenda and strategy
- Drive and assist in the formation of asset allocation product roadmap and strategy
- Oversee and provide guidance and context on AA product development feature enhancements
- Deliver asset allocation-related consulting services
- Construct and maintain a comprehensive set of forward looking capital market assumptions
- Actively keep abreast and report on best practices in the industry
- Collect and formally evaluate market trends and client feedback within the AA space
- Produce and participate in the creation of feature specification documents
- Provide escalated-level asset allocation product support to product users and internal staff
- Coordinate and assist with training programs, collateral materials, and documentation
- Support pre-sales and ongoing account management activities
Experience and skills
- 10-years experience in asset allocation or related field a plus
- Professional experience within fund management house, investment bank (in an asset management role), or direct asset allocation experience at a consultancy a plus
- Prior work with pension fund clients a plus
- B.A. or B.S. from an accredited four-year college or university. Finance, Economics, Statistics, and Computer Science majors are especially encouraged to apply. Advanced degree ideal.
- Deep understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, financial engineering, and economics along with finance certifications a plus (e.g. CFA, FRM, MBA).
- Proficient knowledge of database structure, architecture, analysis, and technical computing/asset allocation software
- Strong product and project management experience in financial services and/or financial technology a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate complex information and influence diverse internal constituents/senior management.

Senior Product Manager | Desktop Products

The Senior Product Manager will oversee our flagship desktop software product, mpi Stylus Pro. A modular desktop platform that synchronizes four primary functions across data integration, computational engine, visualization and report-writing, and automation/publishing. Domain areas include asset allocation and portfolio construction, performance analytics and attribution, quantitative modeling, and risk analysis.
This role requires a high degree of technical, quantitative finance/investment practitioner knowledge, and project management experience. It is a highly focused job and relies on effective cross-functional coordination among sales-marketing, quantitative research, client services, and software engineering. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for idea/concept development and operational implementation/maintenance of new and existing products. This position reports into the Executive overseeing the Product Management unit.

Experience and skills
- B.A. or B.S. from an accredited four-year college or university. Finance, Economics, Statistics, and Computer Science majors are especially encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment concepts, and economics along with finance certifications a plus (e.g. CFA, FRM, MBA).
- Proficient knowledge of database structure, architecture, analysis, and computer programming a plus.
- Strong product and project management experience in financial services and/or financial technology. Product management industry certifications a plus (e.g. NPDP, CPM).
- Proven track record in bringing new products to market.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation: ability to effectively communicate complex information and influence diverse internal constituents/senior management.
